Being With Vernon Howard
I studied with Vernon Howard for about seven years, until his death in 1992. He had been teaching in Boulder City, Nevada, outside of Las Vegas, for over twenty years. He has been the single most important influence in my spiritual journey. His words yet ring in my ears. Stern and singleminded, he lived an awakened life right under our noses. Everything he did was a teaching, a hard teaching. He would call us out on the slightest mistakes and brook no compromise. You were either in heaven or hell, he said. You get rid of all your problems or you keep all of them. It’s that simple. You are awake or asleep. These brief little glimpses into him are strictly personal. Take them for what they are.

He was indeed a teacher for the ages.
i came across mr. howard’s teaching in the early 90′s. bought some books and lots of tapes. i remember the one where he talked to some high school students. he was brutal! talk about not pulling any punches. whew!
